As Baltimore seeks to fill hundreds of vacant positions, the city’s Board of Estimates unanimously decided to cut drug testing as part of the application process for many city jobs.
Who’s still getting drug tested?
Applicants for senior roles and jobs that are considered “positions of trust”—meaning they deal with children, the safety of others, money, or sensitive materials—will still be subjected to pre-employment drug testing.
Anything else I should know?
Officials believe the new measure will attract people who wouldn’t apply for jobs because of the drug testing requirement and speed up the hiring processes.
