Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, more women in the Baltimore region have felt overworked, discriminated against, and generally unhappy with their jobs, according to a new study from the Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC) and Towson University.
The study surveyed 443 people in the area—80% of them women—between March and June 2021.

“Employers run the risk of losing high-quality employees and diversity in the workplace unless they work to understand and address employee needs in this very stressful time for everyone,” said Donald Fry, CEO of the GBC, in a statement.

Survey respondents said companies can turn things around by respecting their time off, providing clarity on work options after the pandemic, offering resources for remote-working, and being more sensitive to senior workers who feel pressured to retire.
