Baltimore Region Is Taking The Lead On Renewable Energy Initiatives

What’s happening?

Government officials and business owners in the Greater Baltimore region could become trailblazers in creating renewable and clean energy initiatives as part of a goal to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

How is this taking place?

A number of Maryland-based groups are rolling up their sleeves. The Maryland Clean Energy Center, which was founded in 2008, is creating programs to license and create new companies focused on clean-energy technology. The recently launched BlueTechMD initiative—a consortium of for-profits, universities, and nonprofits—is bringing entrepreneurs and investors involved in aquaculture, offshore wind, ocean and harbor restoration, and maritime science to the state. Additionally, energy providers like Constellation and BGE are educating and offering consumers access to renewable forms of energy.

Anything else I should know?

Follow the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore to keep up with these initiatives.
